The Project’s Springboard day centre, which provides hot meals, shower and laundry facilities, GP services and skills training for vulnerable adults is busy planning to move into the Lower Hall of the Wesley Centre in the New Year.

Liz Hancock, CEO of Harrogate Homeless Project said the extra space that has been made available at the Wesley Centre and the BID’s funding will allow services to be expanded so that more people can receive support.

Liz said: “Springboard is a place where we can provide purposeful activity and individual targeted support, helping the most marginalised in society, including those with multiple, complex needs.

“Our new premises offer far greater scope and we will now be fundraising hard to realise some of the ambitions we have to extend our operating hours and expand health, wellbeing, skills and rehabilitation services.

“We are hugely grateful to Harrogate BID who have generously agreed to fund £15,000 per year towards the premises costs of the new Springboard location at the Wesley Centre Lower Halls.

“This significant donation will be over four years, allowing us to plan with certainty to develop this fundamental service.

“We are also grateful to all the residents and businesses who continue to support us with financial donations, which will be more important than ever as we strive to provide wide-ranging support and activities for people facing homelessness.”

Sara Ferguson, acting chair of Harrrogate BID said: “One of our key objectives is to make Harrogate town centre ‘safe, clean and welcoming’, and we see our partnership with Harrogate Homeless Project as a key driver in this.

“When homeless people gather in the town it can be intimidating for some people, and Springboard will offer them a sanctuary where they can go and receive the support they need.”
