Harrogate Beer Festival is back for 2016 at the Crown Hotel

Organised by Harrogate Round Table, the three-day extravaganza at the Crown Hotel is in its 26th year and will see hundreds of revellers enjoy more than 120 ales and an extensive line-up of live music.

Run entirely by volunteers, the vast majority of money raised by the beer festival goes directly to the charities which this year include: Harrogate Special Care Baby Unit, Follifoot Disabled Riders Group, Marie Curie, Just B and Open Country.

As always, local breweries will be strongly represented in the beer on offer.

Daleside of Starbeck have several beers featured, including New Dawn, a medium-bodied ruby red ale.

Also included is BadCo Brewery of Dishforth, Great Heck Brewery of Goole and Ilkley Brewery.

Joining visitors for a lively time will be the Claro Sword Morris Dancers who will kick things off next Thursday, February 4.

The live music will take place on two stages in two different rooms in the Crown Hotel - the Bronte Suite and the Victoria Suite.

Among the acts will be BBC’s The Voice star Beth McCarthy, The Detours, The MG band, Kasiuss, Gary Stewart, The Sharlon Colgan Band, Rebel Sounds and The Blueflies.

For anyone who prefer a more ‘chilled’ scene, organisers can offer a dedicated prosecco bar with light music by DJ Mark Green.

Doors will open earlier on the Saturday at 4pm for a live screening of the Six Nations rugby union fixture between England and Scotland.
