Happy 105th birthday to amazing Ripon resident Kay
Celebrating her 105th birthday, Kay Fawell is as feisty and determined as ever.
So popular is Kay, that dozens of friends and family members attended her birthday bash at the Moors Care Centre on Saturday.
Not many people can claim to have made such an impact in the Ripon community as Kay. As a founding member and Lady President of Ripon City Golf Club, Kay’s contribution continues to be seen and felt today.
And her life has been filled with interesting hobbies and occupations - from being a teacher and playing cricket at a national level, to running her own chiropody practice, and being in the Land Army during the war, Kay has surely done it all.
Activities coordinator at the Moors Care Centre, Julie Hampton, said: “Kay is an absolutely amazing lady, she’s an inspiration. She has so many wonderful stories to tell, I could listen for hours. I love spending time with her.”
Kay’s nephew, Mike Hunt, who travelled down from Glasgow for the occasion, said: “She’s an amazing lady, it’s lovely to be here celebrating her birthday with her friends.”
The Mayor of Ripon, Coun Pauline McHardy, was among the invited guests at Kay’s party, which was brilliantly organised by the team at the Moors Care Centre.
There was even a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and photos for guests to look through, to look back on everything that Kay’s achieved, and continues to achieve in her lifetime. One of the photos shows Kay swinging a golf club on her 100th birthday.
