Hampsthwaite school launches international education project
Children at Hampsthwaite Church of England Primary School are making unprecendented links with fellow pupils in Idaho in a new project of international collaboration.
Headteacher Andrew Phoenix joined 149 fellow educators from across the UK, America, and Canada over the summer for a six day conference on technology in education.
What he brought back from this was the tools to add new creativity to his school, but also links with schools from all three countries.
He said: “Straight away we were armed with lots of fantastic ideas and we came away with resource after resource, including things like Google Docs, Colar, and an international network called Edmodo, which is a learning platform for collaboration across schools.
“The power in that is incredible and if we can start using things like that here we are going to be going global in a big way.
“It wasn’t about how good their technology is, it was all about how our children will benefit in their learning.
“They will be able to share their thinking in a really different way, and it is about the process they are going through in learning and how to relate in a global world.”
