Hampsthwaite WI: the ladies will be meeting at the Memorial Hall on Monday, March 3 at 7.30pm when Elenor McRobert will be talking about The Allure of Shoes. Visitors are most welcome to attend and the admission is £4.
YCA News: the next meeting of the Burnt Yates cum Hartwith branch will be held at the Bay Horse Community Centre on Tuesday, March 4 at 7.30pm when Jenny Stacey will be talking about A Sniff of Snuff. New and prospective members will be made most welcome.
Burnt Yates School News: a new photography club is taking place for the junior children after school on Wednesdays when a different topic will be covered each week. It will include techniques for taking and editing photographs. The school is collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers and these are available in store and at the petrol station until May 22.
Seated Circle Class: As I mentioned in last week’s column, Jackie Terry from Age UK runs the exercise class in Hampsthwaite at the Village Room on a Wednesday morning between 11am and noon. This is great fun and aimed at the less mobile and I am told there are a few spare seats.
Wednesday Group News: the jumble sale held earlier this month raised £235 which will be donated to Horticap. This year’s chosen charity is Hampsthwaite’s St Thomas a Becket church roof.
Hampsthwaite Show July 20: the first committee meeting took place earlier this month to make plans for this year’s show. A reminder that the photographic classes are “Transport – Human, on Four Legs, or Mechanical”, “Yorkshire in Bloom”, “Arches” and “On the Beach”. If anyone has any suggestions generally as to classes to include or exclude, please can they be forwarded before March 11 so they can be considered at the next committee meeting when the classes will be finalised. They can be sent to me at Sunnyside, Clint Bank Lane or my email email@example.com.
