Golf deal with Harrogate clubs aims to bring in visitors

There will no doubt be an increased interest in golf as a result and so Visit Harrogate could not have timed the launch of its new Golf Pass any better. Today, in the newly refurbished clubhouse at Pannal Golf Club, we will launch our new three-day or five-day Golf Pass providing great value golf at five of the district’s best courses: Harrogate Golf Club, Knaresborough Golf Club, Pannal Golf Club, Ripon City Golf Club and Rudding Park Golf Club.

This is a new collaboration between Visit Harrogate and our local golf clubs and we hope will add to the overall Harrogate district offer. There is further information at www.visitharrogate.co.uk/things-to-do/active/golf.

The sporting theme continues with the arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire in the Harrogate District on April 29.

Already the flags and bunting are appearing on the route in preparation for the race passing through Knaresborough, Ripley and Pateley Bridge before heading up the challenging Cote to Greenhow Hill.

Not only does the race bring visitors into the district but the live tv coverage on ITV4 and Eurosport gives great coverage of our fantastic area.

Who can forget the aerial shots of some of famous landmarks and beautiful countryside during the Tour de France in 2014?

This week is the Royal Horticultural Society’s National Gardening Week; there are plenty of things to do and see at RHS Garden Harlow Carr.

It also gives me an excuse to mention another of Visit Harrogate’s garden related activities. Sandwiched in between the Golf Pass launch and the Tour de Yorkshire is the Harrogate Flower Show which sees another first for Visit Harrogate when we launch our new Gardens Guide.

It does not seem two months since I outlined the rich variety of gardens that we have in this district in the February column but here we are with our brand new guide ready for release.

Some 17 partners have come on board to promote our horticultural offer in the guide.

There are suggestions of where to go and what to see each season and even tips from some of the district’s leading gardeners.

There is also some information about Open Gardens. The Gardens Guide will be available from April 21 so, if you are at the Flower Show do look out for us in the Gardening Hall on stand GH39, just by the café.

We also be hosting a number of our partners over the four days of the Show so there will be something different to see each day.

If you can’t make the Show the Guide will be available from the local TICs…if there are any left.

Now that the Easter holidays are over we are putting the final touches to our summer campaigns.
