The McDonald’s restaurant at Knaresborough Retail Park was recognised at the independent awards, dubbed the ‘Toilet Oscars’.

Knaresborough franchisee Pritpal Singh and his team bagged the Gold award for the quality of the restaurant’s toilet facilities, which were judged on a wide range of criteria including cleanliness and hygiene, fixtures and fittings, air quality and décor.

Mr Singh said: “My staff work exceptionally hard to ensure our customers enjoy a high quality service throughout their visit, and this includes having access to hygienic and safe washroom facilities. Our toilets are maintained to a very high standard.”

Promoted by the British Toilet Association, the awards have been running since 1987.
