Girl Guides going to Mexico

MEXICO is the destination for a group of Girl Guides this summer – and they are raising money for the trip by holding a series of car washes.

Girl Guides from North Yorkshire West are going to one of the four Guide World Centres, Our Cabana, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where they will live and work with Guides from around the world and take part in social projects with the very poor.

The group also has the opportunity to take part in outreach work at one of the local charity centres, where they aim to refurbish a nursery.

The Guides are raising money towards their trip in various ways, but are also grateful for contributions such as toothbrushes, soap and toiletries, which they will give to the charity, Vamos, with whom they will be working.

Saturday’s fundraising carwash was at Boroughbridge Fire Station and raised £110.

The group’s next event is at Ripon Town Hall tomorrow, Saturday, from 10am-1pm.
