Gin Festival gets set to stir up Harrogate

More than 100 gins, top craft distillers and a whole world of ginformation is coming Harrogate's way this weekend when the Gin Festival comes to town.

Running at Harrogate International Centre (Hall C) tomorrow, Friday, December 9 and Saturday,

Visiting cities and towns across the UK, Gin Festival has brought tens of thousands of gin enthusiasts together to discover and celebrate craft gin.

The event will feature two very local, highly-regarded gins - Slingsby from Harrogate and Masons from Bedale.

There will be four gin bars, showcasing the very best in British and international gins as well as the finest gin liqueurs.

To create the perfect serve, each gin will have a carefully matched garnish alongside a specifically paired Fever Tree Tonic or mixer.

There’s also a regular cocktail bar serving up fantastic gin-based libations, as well as additional seasonal treats.

Gin lovers can chat to the distillers and brands who love to make gin, drink gin and share a sample or two.

If they get you hooked, attend one of the masterclasses where you can learn all about gin how it’s made.

Other brands of gin attending the event, offering free samples and tasters, as well as running masterclasses, also include Yorkshire’s Addingham Cranberry & Orange, Whittaker’s Gi and Leeds Gin.

From further afield, gin aficiandos can also enjoy will include Brockmans, Pinkster, Poetic License, Sir Robin of Locksley and Black Tomato.

There will also be a seasonal bar, Still & Stove which will feature two hot gin creations - Mulled Sloe Gin and Vanilla Jenever Orange Hot Chocolate.

First established in 2013 by Jym and Marie Harris, the event can also boast plenty of delicious street food with Ilkley bakery Love Brownies one of the many names taking part in the festival.

Masons Gin also featured in a recent special evening at popular Harrogate bar, Ten Devonshire Place.

Coincidentally, Ten Devonshire is also hosting a gin festival this weekend from Friday, December 9 to Sunday featuring a range of more than 100 gins from local and small batch distillers home and abroad.

There will also be cocktails with Slingsby Gin.
