The week-long event will be held at Newby Hall, near Ripon, on August 4 2018 and is expected to attract about 3,000 people and boost the economy.

Geocaching is a game where players, from all over the world, use GPS coordinates to find hidden boxes, containing trinkets and treasures.

Organising committee chairman, Richard Lay said: “We realised that the 10th anniversary of the very first UK Mega event was approaching and it was really important to a bunch of us to bring it “home” to Yorkshire to celebrate this milestone.

“We are delighted to have secured a magnificent venue in Newby Hall and gardens to host the event and camping – the area gives us an ideal opportunity

to showcase Yorkshire, from Dales to Coast, Cities and Countryside. It will give the local economy a major boost.”
