Funds to help flood hit Tadcaster recovery plan

The fraternity has presented two cheques totalling £8,000 to Tadcaster Emergency Action Group and £1,000 to Tadcaster Albion Football Club, in recognition of the help they have provided to the brewery town, especially having suffered irreparable damage to their clubhouse.

The money, all of which has been donated by the Freemasons of Yorkshire, West Riding, has come from the West Riding Masonic Charity, and the West Yorkshire Mark Master Masons.

Matthew Gore, the CEO of Inspire 2 Independence, which is administering the funds, said: “On behalf of the Tadcaster Emergency Action group and the Tadcaster Albion Football Club, we would like to say a huge thank you for these superb donations.

“It will make a massive difference to the community of Tadcaster and to the football club.”

Mr Gore added: “It’s very gracious and kind of them, especially when we have been told that these donations have come from the members and not from fund raising.

“It means so much to us, and will be forever grateful, and we will not forget it.”

Nicola Eades, the coordinator of the Tadcaster Emergency Action Group, said: “This amount of money will go a long way in helping with the recovery and also sponsor flood prevention kits in Tadcaster.

“On behalf of the community of Tadcaster and the Tadcaster Emergency Action Group, we would like to thank everyone for their donations.”

W Bro Paul Clarke, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Yorkshire West Riding, said: “I’m delighted with the response from our members who have dug deep to help those on our very doorstep who are in need as a result of the floods.”
