Adam Newton, manager of sports shop Up and Running, who organised the club said he was “not there to coach, just to simply bring together men and women who are struggling to get their running off the ground”.

He added: “No-one gets left behind, and everyone has a great time.”

Longstanding club member Sally White said: “I started doing the social run over a year ago and I love it!

“I feel very proud that I can now do a 10k without thinking ‘how will I ever finish that’!

“It’s great to run with different types of people of all abilities and not feel pressured. Along with generally feeling fitter than ever I’ve met some lovely people!

“One of the greatest things is realising that I can now do something that over a year ago I simply couldn’t have done, I would’ve happily sat on the couch and eaten cake instead!”

If you are interested in taking part just turn up ready to run by 6.30pm on a Monday evening at 16 Station Parade, Harrogate, or contact the store directly.
