Food festival to mark Tour de Yorkshire race

Foodies will have something new to get their teeth into when historic Lotherton Hall hosts its first ever food festival on Tour de Yorkshire weekend.

The exciting new event will see some of the best street food traders set up on site, alongside 80 local craft and produce stalls.

The festival will start on Saturday, April 30, the same day cyclists taking on the Tour de Yorkshire will be racing past the entrance to the estate.

A big screen will be set up in the grounds so those enjoying the festival don’t have to miss any of the cycling action and a festival bar will be serving locally brewed beers from Rudgate Brewery as well as Pimms, prosecco and cocktails.

The festival also continues on Sunday and Monday, with all three days featuring live music on stages across the site, free children’s entertainment, children’s cookery classes, a fun fair, disco and giant bouncy castles.

And more adventurous visitors can also take on a Man vs Food challenge and see how much pizza and sliders they can eat.

Monday, the festival’s final day, will feature traditional May Day celebrations, including maypole dancing, the Night Flyers Big Band and acoustic music from local artists.
