First 'socially distanced gig' in Harrogate district may happen next month

Plans are in the making for what may be the first 'socially-distanced' gig in the Harrogate district to take place since lockdown.

Ripley Live, community-based music promoters, who have been bringing leading r'nb, soul, folk and rock acts to Ripley Town Hall with great success for more than a decade, are hoping to present a leading Simon & Garfunkel tribute act next month within the Government's rules of social distancing.

The highly-respected promoters realise the sensitivity of the situation even as lockdown eases and businesses start to reopen but have put tickets on sale for A Celebration of the music of Simon & Garfunkel" on Friday, July 17 with a proviso - a full refund will be given if it should prove unable to proceed with the gig.

The pre-gig publicity issued by Ripley Live says:

"If regulations allow we are hoping to proceed with "A Celebration of the music of Simon & Garfunkel" as a socially distanced gig.

"The gig has been moved from the small room upstairs to our main hall and the audience will be limited to 50 rather then the capacity of 250.

"Tickets for Friday, July 17 can only be bought in advance and payment at the bar is strictly by contactless card.

Information and tickets at http://www.ripleylive.com and a full refund will be given if we are unable to proceed with the gig."

If the show does happen, it will be the third year in succession that the Simon & Garfunkel act have performed at Ripley Town Hall.
