First-ever comedy festival for Knaresborough

And the town should certainly be roaring with laughter when the first-ever Knaresborough Comedy Festival is launched in July.

For three days Frazer Theatre will be the comedy centre of Britain well, at least until the Edinburgh Fringe begins.

Building on the hugely successful Frazer Theatre Comedy Club, now into its second year of extremely popular shows, The Knaresborough Comedy Festival 2016 will bring an unprecedented array of talent to the town.

Frazer Theatre vice-chairman John Pearce said “As a life-long fan of stand-up comedy, it is a genuine dream come true to be able to announce this incredible festival.

“Since the Frazer Theatre Comedy Club launched in 2014 we’ve built up a reputation within the comedy community for providing great audiences in a wonderful venue. Now we are reaping the benefits of that reputation with the willingness of such top-level acts to bring their shows here.”

Running from July 14-16, the line-up includes Knaresborough first-timers like Tony Law and Justin Moorhouse along with the massively popular favourites from the monthly shows like Harriet Dyer and Tom Toal.

All shows are one hour long and are previews of the performances these acts will be taking to the Edinburgh Festival in August - with the exception of Jason Cook, who isn’t going to Edinburgh this year, but just wanted to come and play anyway!

In another first for Knaresborough, Saturday, July 16 will also see a special Kids Comedy event with acts who specialise in all-ages comedy.

One key aspect of this new boost for the town’s arts and ents scene is that Knaresborough Comedy Festival has as a stated aim its desire make these UK-class shows as accessible to the people of Knaresborough as possible.

Tickets for one night are just £10, any two nights can be yours for £18 and a season-pass for all three nights, allowing audiences to see all six shows, is just £23.

One night and three-night tickets are also available from The Olde Chemist Shop in Knaresborough, but the two night offer is only available online or over the phone
