Festive card store opens doors in town

Christmas is on the horizon in Harrogate’s high street and no more so at the opening of the Cards for Good Causes seasonal shop at Harrogate Library.

The multi-charity outlet which sells cards for more than 25 national and local charities, has opened at Harrogate Library on Victoria Avenue.

Shelley Mills, Area Organiser said: “Our seasonal shops are a great way to prepare for Christmas while at the same time providing an important source of funding for charities.

“In keeping with the Christmas spirit, sending charity Christmas cards allows you to give twice - once to friends and family, and again to worthwhile causes of your choice.”

People can find the Harrogate shop by looking out for Cards for Good Causes’ distinctive triangular red Santa sign.

In the past five years, charities have received more than £20 million from the organisation - representing at least 70p in every pound out of which charities had to pay for the production and distribution of their Christmas cards and any VAT.

The Harrogate seasonal shop is part of the Cards for Good Causes’ national network of over 300 shops, selling cards for around 275 charities, and also stocking seasonal gifts.

Cards for Good Causes Limited (CFGC) pays the participating charities (or their trading subsidiaries) at least 70p in every pound from their card sales, less the VAT payable on the amount retained by CFGC, which is used for running costs.

The Harrogate store is open during Library opening hours until Saturday December 19.
