The Grade I listed courtyard will be covered against the wintry elements by marquees selling festive goodies.

Harewood House is a family home and it will be dressed for the season. There is an exhibition of Christmas family mementos on display. There will be biscuit decorating ‘below the stairs’ in the servants quarters.

The house is also offering to act as host and organiser of glitzy private parties. Event coordinators have created nights with the theme of ‘Hollywood glamour’.

A spokesman for the house said: “We can offer a party fit for the stars this winter in the Pavilion, with red carpet and paparazzi, Frank Sinatra tribute, great food and DJ til late.”
