Ukip leader Nigel Farage was among the early attendees. The party says it will be one of the first events of its Brexit campaign as well as an opportunity for Mr Farage and local MEPs Jane Collins and Mike Hookem to meet businesses and groups at the centre of the countryside economy.

Around 150,000 people are expected to attend what is Britain’s largest celebration of countryside field sports.

Henry Robinson, the CLA’s president, said: “You have got three days of a wonderful celebration of all that goes on in the countryside here. There are a mass of good things to see and to do, and to hear about and I’ve got it on good authority that the weather is going to be perfect so we’re going to have a really good time.”
