Fracking talk in Knaresborough

Knarsborough Civic Society are set to discuss fracking at its meeting on Tuesday November 18.

Bill Rigby, a member of the recently formed Harrogate and District Alliance Against Fracking (HADAAF) will be speaking about the controversial topic at the meeting at the Dower House Hotel at 7.30pm.

Entrance will be £2 or £3 for non-members.

Fears were raised earlier in the year that the Harrogate district could see a surge of controversial fracking’ applications.

The area has been highlighted by the British Geological Survey (BGS) as one surrounded by reserves of the energy source.

Fracking - or hydraulic fracturing - involves drilling deep into the ground and injecting a mix of water, sand and chemicals at high-pressure to release gases trapped inside.
