Allotments given makeover after fire

Bramham’s Tenter Hill allotments have been regenerated following a fire at the site.

The regeneration works were funded from a variety of sources, including Bramham Parish Council and volunteers have played a vital role.

After the demolition and clearance of parts of the site, the Ward Councillors contributed to the completion of the clearance, and funded a skip to clear materials off the site.

The Community Fund, which distributes money raised by the sale of Leeds Festival Tickets for Bramham residents, funded the new secure fencing and the Meeting Cabin.

Bramham Park Estate provided machinery and labour to clear the larger areas.

A new Allotments Association now supports the Parish Council with the site, and has recently helped inaugurate the new meeting place cabin.

Coun Linda Richards praised the extraordinary community spirit of the volunteers, and hopes the regeneration works and smaller plots will encourage more people to take up the hobby.

She said: “As a ward Councillor, it was a pleasure to get involved in this project and support the local community.

Volunteers, with a special mention to James Ingham and his tractor, have worked very hard to remove debris and make this site appealing to local residents.

“With improved fencing and the creation of new and small allotments, many more people will be able to join us and work on this site, which is a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

“The final addition of the cabin will allow allotment holders to better manage their site together.

“This has been a challenging process but one which the outcome has totally justified.

“My grateful thanks to all who have made this happen, especially the committee members of the Tenter Hill Allotments Association who have worked tirelessly towards

this goal. Congratulations to everyone.”
