Culture and Connections in Ripon is an exciting new project aiming to tackle social isolation and loneliness by inviting people from across all age groups to volunteer at the city's museums.

It will provide opportunities for people to make connections, meet new friends and to get involved in the local community - socially, or as a volunteer.

Participants will be invited to take part in a wide range of activities at Ripon Museums Trust, starting with taster sessions including craft activities, working behind the scenes, helping in the gardens, and object handling.

Each person will be linked to a ‘buddy’ who can help them to participate in the activities. The success of the project will be evaluated by the University of York and participants will be invited to contribute to the research.

Anyone interested in the project can find out more or sign up at a special Ripon Museums and Ending Loneliness campaign event at Ripon Workhouse Museum on March 31, 2-4pm, where visitors can enjoy a tour of the museum and do some object handling.

Reporter Finola Fitzpatrick will also be on hand to give a talk about our Ending Loneliness campaign.
