Uni fees help for winning Ripon student

A RIPON student has been named as one of the UK’s brightest young engineers and won a prestigious scholarship for his university studies

Adam Robinson, 18, from Ripon Grammar School, won the accolade from engineering consultancy AMEC and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

The award is given to one engineering student each year and will contribute £1,000 per year to Adam’s engineering degree at Cambridge University.

Professor Roderick Smith, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, said:

“Adam is one of the best young engineers the UK has to offer, and we hope this award can help him in his journey towards a hugely successful engineering career

“The world’s future depends on the ingenuity of the next generation of engineers, like Adam, to solve global issues from climate change to overpopulation.”
