Evie Mae Dutton from St Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Boston Spa has won a national competition run by leading stationery manufacturer Staedtler.
World Kids Colouring Day is an annual competition run through Teachers’ Club UK, Staedtler’s online scheme for primary school teachers.
The theme for 2016 was funny animals and six-year-old Evie Mae was judged the overall winner in the Key Stage 1 category for her impressive colouring and comprehension, beating 5,000 entries from throughout the UK.
As well as Staedtler stationery goodies for herself, Evie Mae also won £250 worth of products for her school and an art workshop for her class with renowned British artist and caricaturist Picasso Griffiths.
The workshop started with a demonstration of sketch and drawing by Picasso.
Evie Mae’s teacher and Teachers’ Club UK member, Mr Oliver Butterwick said: “It was fantastic to have Picasso in school. The children had a great time looking at his artwork and asking for help with their own projects.
“It was a unique experience and we’re so grateful to have had it.”
