Starbeck School musicians have been celebrating their success at the Harrogate Competitive Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.

The Year 6 Recorder group won their class on the first weekend of this year’s festival and were awarded the Harrogate Lions Club Trophy.

And Sunday March 17 it was the turn of the Choir and the Djembe Drumming Team to shine.

The Choir were placed joint second in a hotly contested class, earning a Commendation and the Djembe Drumming Team was awarded a Distinction along with their trophy.

A school spokesman said: “We are very proud of all our musicians at Starbeck School and it was wonderful to see them do so well performing in public.

“We received some lovely comments from the Festival adjudicators and are looking forward to taking part in even more classes next year.”
