Author casts spell on pupils

World Book Day got off to a spell-tastic start when local children’s author, Rebecca Colby, visited Oatlands Infant School, in an event organised by Book Events for Schools.

Dressed in full witch regalia, Rebecca entertained the children with activities based on her witch-themed picture book, It’s Raining Bats and Frogs.

Children dressed as their favourite book characters while the staff impersonated much loved, and loathed, characters from Hogwarts.

Rebecca Colby said: “Visiting Oatlands Infants has been a fantastic way to celebrate World Book Day.

“I’ve loved being part of such a public celebration of children’s books”.

Headteacher, Mrs Robson, added: “It has been exciting for the children to meet an author and it brings to life the work we do in the classroom throughout the year.”
