Volunteer drivers are being sought by Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP) for its new service.
Launching in September, Driving Force will provide door-to-door transport for local people who are unable to use public transport due to limited mobility, disability or location.
The charity is now looking for volunteers from Harrogate, Knaresborough and the surrounding villages who can take people on non-urgent journeys to get to medical appointments, to the shops and banks and to social activities, such as lunch clubs.
Volunteer drivers will be given a set mileage rate towards their vehicles’ running expenses.
Frances Elliot, HELP Project Manager said: “This is a really flexible way to help others. Our drivers volunteer at times to suit them and receive the satisfaction of helping local people who would otherwise struggle to get out and about.”
