Don't miss out! - Your chance to see rare photographs of Ripon in a new exhibition
Nearly 10,000 photographs of Ripon and its people have been preserved and digitalised, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Ripon Civic Society.
As part of this important Ripon Re-Viewed project, a new exhibition is launching at Ripon Workhouse Museum on Friday to showcase some of these photographs, which strikingly capture the changing face of Ripon over the past century.
The exhibition inside the museum’s main block, will feature a selection of images from the collection, exploring everyday lives in the city over the decades - and featuring aspects of the city’s history, such as the Wakeman’s House.
To complement the images, a film of Ripon during the First World War will be shown, courtesy of the Yorkshire Film Archive. The museum is hosting the exhibition from Friday, July 27, until September 2, and admission for Ripon residents will be free on July 28 and 29, and on September 1 and 2.
A full feature on the launch of the exhibition will appear in next week’s ‘Gazette.
