Donations to Kenyan slum

A KENYAN slum will receive fresh water and vital medicine thanks to a local charity and generous donations from Harrogate residents and churchgoers.

Donors gave £17,259 to this year’s Christian Aid appeal.

Alex Jones from Christian Aid Yorkshire said: “We are extremely grateful to the people of Harrogate for giving to help people help themselves out of poverty and to all the volunteers that made this happen.”

Donations will help provide safe, clean water for 30,800 people in the Matopeni slum in Kenya, with funds also going towards vital HIV medication.
