Public opinion is being gauged by Harrogate Borough Council to find out what should be offered at swimming pools across the district.
A Consultation has begun to ask residents what classes and activities they would like to see at the five council run swimming pools, The Harrogate Hydro, Ripon Spa Baths, Knaresborough Pool, Nidderdale Pool and Starbeck Baths.
The council has said it is aiming to find out what sessions are currently popular with residents and what they would like to see introduced in the future, alongside what would draw new users to the the pools.
Councillor Stanley Lumley, Harrogate Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Sport said: “We currently offer a wide variety of classes and activities within our swimming pools and people use them for a variety of reasons – to keep fit, to feel part of the community or to simply have fun.
“We want to ensure that our current programme of activity is right for our customers and this public consultation will help us to understand how people currently use our swimming pools, whether they are happy with the classes on offer and if there are any activities that they would like us to add to our programme. We are also keen to hear from people who do not currently use our pools so that we can look at creating a programme which appeals to them.
“We are committed to delivering excellent customer service for our community and by working together we can create a swimming programme that offers something for everyone.”
Currently residents have access to activities including swimming lessons, family fun sessions, general swimming sessions, early riser sessions, aqua babes and a range of fitness classes such as Aqua Core and Aqua Fit.
Among the options in the consultation the council is also gauging the response to activities such as Aqua Zumba, Aqua Babies, Pre and Post Natal sessions, men and women only sessions.
The public consultation runs until Friday 8 December 2017 and is available to complete at www.harrrogate.gov.uk/haveyoursay
Paper copies of the consultation are also available from the five swimming baths and the council’s Crescent Gardens offices in Harrogate.
