Event organisers Angela Houseman and Sue McQueen say: "It's a chance for all the Darley groups to work together—to raise money for a very deserving local charity and also make some money to put back into our own community. The event originally came about as a celebration of the whole community raising over 45,000 to help towards rebuilding Christ Church Community Centre which will be a significant focus and meeting place for Darley. Teams are already signing up—but there is still room for plenty more and we invite anyone who is interested to sign up to what promises to be a fabulous day out'! Contact Angela on 01423 780056. The Christ Church Community Centre officially reopens on August 30 but there will be other events going on during the village weekend of September 15, 16 to celebrate its rebuilding. The key event is the Knockout competition itself, but there will also be a children's art trail, a flower festival, a village dance and a brass band concert taking place over the weekend.

During the Knockout competition itself, spectators will be well entertained. In addition to the events on the playing fields, a charity auction will take place, featuring a main lot of a hot air balloon flight (weather permitting), kindly donated by Virgin Balloon Flights. The auction will be conducted by Brian Thompson, of Thompson Auctioneers of Hampsthwaite. Other attractions will include: a barbecue and bar; Punch and Judy; bouncy castle; tethered balloon flights; cream teas; and many other stalls and amusements. The Knockout competition promises to be a worthy and fun celebration of community fundraising and is not to be missed! See you there!
