Molly and Arthur Kendall: would like to thank everyone who helped to raise £1,425 for Guide Dogs for the Blind at their recent coffee morning.

Macmillan Coffee Day: Judy Barker would like to thank everyone who supported her event held at Darley Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 28. There was a packed house with lovely scones and cakes, plenty stalls to enjoy and just a good community spirit. Just over £4,000 was raised which is amazing for a small community. Judy would also like to thank all her friends and family without whose support this event in aid of the Macmillan Nurses would not have been possible.

Dr Thirsty returns to Darley: Dr Thirsty, the ever-popular revival band, make a welcome return to Darley Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 12. Dr Thirsty put the emphasis on enjoyment of their music for all ages, and include music from the 1960s right up to the present day. You can dine and dance the night away to their music on Saturday, October 12. The event runs from 7.30-11.30pm and the tickets are £17.50 to include a delicious two-course hot supper. Vintage Tea Party: a sumptuous fare of savouries and cakes served on vintage china, silverware, antique lace and linen at Hartwith School Room on Thursday, October 17, 3-5.30pm. Tickets £15 per person – limited space. Apply to Diana Kitzing 01423 770850.

Gardening Club: the next meeting of The Glasshouses and District Gardening Club will be held in Dacre and Hartwith Village Hall on Thursday, October 17. Our speaker will be John Armitage who will be talking about The History of Bonsai. Flower Workshop: Darley Christ Church Community Centre on Thursday, October 10 at 7.45pm. Cost: £60 (for seven sessions) or £10 per session. The seven workshops will meet on the second Thursday of October, November, December, February, March, April and May. These are friendly evening workshops that will give you the confidence to make flowers look very impressive.
