Max Pullan Pavilion at Dacre Banks: the official opening ceremony of the new pavilion at the Max Pullan Recreation Ground at Dacre Banks will be performed by Sir Thomas Ingilby, Bt. of Ripley Castle at 12.30pm on Saturday, June 1. The pavilion will be open from noon and there will be an opportunity to view the facilities and learn more about the history of the recreation ground and the building of the new pavilion.His grandfather Lt-Col Sir William H. Ingilby, Bt. opened the original pavilion in 1937, and Sir Thomas is President of the Nidderdale & District Amateur Cricket League. The mayor of Harrogate, Coun Michael Newby, and his consort and the mayor of Pateley Bridge, Coun Christine Scaife and her consort have also agreed to grace the occasion with their presence. Following the opening ceremony, everybody is welcome to stay to watch the cricket match and the activity on the tennis courts and bowling green.

Dacre Banks Cricket Club: on Saturday, June 1 the 1st team will be at home to Masham.

All day grub: Hookstone Memorial Hall, Low Lane, Thornthwaite will be serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon teas, ice cream 9.30am-4.30pm on Saturday, June 1 and every first Saturday in the month until December. Raising funds for the hall - Charity No: 701972.

Doris Carling’s Retirement: after 45 years of continuous service at Dacre & Hartwith Village Hall, Doris Carling announced her retirement as booking officer at the recent AGM. Members of the management committee thanked Doris for her dedicated commitment over such a long period of time. In addition to maintaining the bookings diary, she has been involved in the organisation of numerous social events, fundraising activities, maintenance and, in recent years, head cook for the lunch club. Her support for the hall will be sadly missed by all users of the venue. In appreciation of her loyalty and support, friends and colleagues presented Doris and husband Tom with a beautiful garden seat where it is hoped they will be able to relax and enjoy some well earned rest.
