Cundall Manor on song for wins

A number of the school’s 11 performers secured wins in their class, including several podium finishes at the event at Harrogate Ladies College.

Three Cundall performers secured the Judi Dench Trophy (pictured) for their acting skills. Cecily Ruddy, Flossie Attwood and Hattie Attwood topped the category for best acted scene.

The adjudicating panel also awarded third place for Alannah Creed and Tilly Hall’s duet in the Year 9 and under duet class, third place for Sasha Reed in Solo Singing Year 5, second place to Hattie Attwood in Solo Year 5 and Year 5 Musical Theatre and first place for Flossie Attwood in 2 classes: Solo Year 6 girls and Musical Theatre Year 6 Boys and Girls with two trophies as well.

Singing Teacher, Paula Berger, accompanied the students. She said: “They performed very well and most of our students are very young.”

“And they overcame their nerves to put on a fantastic performance.”

She added: “The Attwood sisters, Flossie and Hattie, both won trophies and gave exceptional performances.”

Director of Music at Cundall Manor School, Wendy Ford, said: “We have a strong tradition of singing from an early age.”

Pupils will next get to perform at the prestigious Stowe School.

“Most of our choristers will be performing at Stowe School singing choral evening song with the Stowe Chapel Choir.”

Mrs Ford added: “It is a valuable experience for our pupils to get to perform in such wonderful environments and in such illustrious competitions.”
