Two men charged in connection with Knaresborough bomb hoax

Two Leeds men have been charged in connection with a bomb hoax which brought chaos to the streets of Knaresborough last year.

The men have been charged in connection with the incident at a pizza take-away in Knaresborough on October 16 2013.

Armed police stormed onto the streets of Knaresborough after the hoax call last year, shutting down roads and locking down a local school.

A 23-year-old man from the Chapeltown area of Leeds has been charged with three offences of communicating a bomb hoax.

A 22-year-old man, also from the Chapeltown area, has been charged with perverting the course of justice and making a false statement to obtain insurance.

Both men are due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on June 3 2014.
