Two arrested over aggravated burglary in Harrogate

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after a disturbance in Dalby Avenue last night.

Police were called to the scene after two men, believed to have been wielding baseball bats, entered a house at around 9pm.

They left the property and fled the scene after being confronted and challenged by the occupants.

Police arrested one man, a 22-year-old, shortly after at around 9.40pm, while a second man was arrested this morning.

Both men, from the Boroughbridge area, remain in police custody for questioning.

Police have moved to reassure the public that the incident is an isolated one, adding that nobody was injured and the wider community is not at risk.

Officers are now investigating and are appealing for witnesses to the incident, including the movements of a silver car and its occupants which was seen in the street at the time and believed to be connected.

They would also like to hear from anyone else who witnessed the disturbance or saw any suspicious activity beforehand.
