Teen airlifted after fall from Starbeck window

A teenager has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after falling in Starbeck.

The unnamed 18-year-old local male fell from the window of a building on Starbeck High Street at around 3.25pm today (Thursday, September 4).

He was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

North Yorkshire Police taped off large parts of the street when dealing with the incident as a precaution.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended an address on the High Street, Starbeck, at 3.25pm, following a report that a man had fallen from a window.

“On arrival the officers found an 18-year-old year local man who had suffered serious injuries.

“He has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance.

“We are not in a position to give any further details about his condition at this time.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and no one else is being sought in connection with the incident at this time.”

A Yorkshire Air Ambulance spokesperson said: “Yorkshire Air Ambulance got a call to an incident on High Street, Starbeck, Harrogate.

“They sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a hazardous area response team and an air helicopter.

“A male teenager was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with head injuries.”

Judy Robinson was there when the man was airlifted.

She told the Harrogate Advertiser: “The air ambulance was there, two ambulances and a three responder cars but police wont say what happened.#

“People are just wondering what is going on. They closed off all the street.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
