THIEVES have targeted Harrogate in a recent spate of 2-in-1 burglaries.

Burglars broke into houses in the town between Tuesday April 5 and Thursday April 7, stealing the keys to expensive cars as well as jewellery and electrical items.

They stole two white 3 Series BMWs, from two separate addresses in Rossett and Pannal.

Det Sgt Paul Schofield, of Harrogate CID, said the offenders are clearly targeting high value cars.

“I ask that anyone who knows anything about the people who have committed any of these burglaries and thefts to contact me as I need to speak to them as soon as possible,” he said.

The first BMW was taken from Daleside Avenue between 6.30am and 5.30pm on Tuesday April 5.

The thieves also stole an amount of electrical equipment including an IBM Thinkpad, a Samsung television and an Apple iPod, as well as a gold and blue topaz ring.

The second BMW was stolen from Yew Tree Lane at some time between 10pm on Tuesday April 5 and 6.30am the next day, Wednesday April 6.

Thieves also stole a grey Volkswagen Golf from outside a property on Franklin Road some time between noon on Wednesday April 6 and 6.50am on Thursday April 7.

Just before the theft they broke into a vehicle which was parked next to it and stole a mobile phone.

Det Sgt Schofield said: “Following this recent spate of thefts the offenders are clearly targeting high value cars and ask owners to be aware of the vehicle’s security.

“I would like to remind people to ensure that keys are kept in a secure place and out of sight.
