Two pedal cyclists were riding between Sharow, near Ripon, and Dishforth today (Friday, April 24), near the “motorcycle off-road area”, when they were overtaken by a dark blue estate car – possibly a Vauxhall or an Audi – at 11am. A white BMW and red Vauxhall Zafira which were travelling in the opposite direction then collided.

The driver of the BMW, a 45-year-old woman from Dishforth, received slight injuries and was treated at the scene. The 45-year-old male driver of the Zafira, from Ingleby Barwick, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with slight injuries.

The overtaking car did not stop at the scene.

“I am particularly keen to speak the driver of the dark blue Vauxhall or Audi which failed to stop at the scene. The driver may be unaware of the incident but I still need to speak to them.”
