A wedding crasher had to be thrown out of a hotel in Harrogate after inappropriately touching a young guest, police have said.

The uninvited man, aged around 50 to 60 years old, was escorted out of the Crown Hotel on a Saturday night in April after being confronted by wedding guests.

Police say the man, who may be called ‘Mikey’, tried to talk to a group of women outside the hotel before touching one of them on the bottom.

He then went inside to a function room filled with guests, sitting beside a 12-year-old girl and putting his hand on her knee.

“Thankfully neither the woman or girl suffered any physical harm as a result of these incidents,” said PC Lee Yates, of Harrogate Police, releasing CCTV footage of a man they would like to talk to.

“However, they were both naturally left upset by their experience.

“If you recognise the suspect, I urge you to contact the police straight away as I need to speak to him about these incidents.

“I am also urging the man himself to come forward so that I can understand his version of events.”

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Saturday, April 13.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 5ft 10in tall with a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing dark framed glasses, a beige jacket, white shirt, black trousers and black shoes.

Police say it is possible that his name is Mikey and that he was a visitor to the town.
