An alleged drink driver was arrested on Saturday, after crashing into a tree on Chain Lane in Knaresborough.
Police pulled over a black Suziki SX4 car at around 5.25pm, following reports it was being driven eratically.
The driver then crashed the car into a tree on Chain Lane near the Co-op shop, before fleeing on foot.
Officers used pepper spray as the suspect resisted arrest.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at around 5.35pm on Aspin Lane after being found to be almost three time over the drink drive limit.
The alleged drink driver was arrested for driving without valid insurance, taking a vehicle without consent and was driving without due care and attention.
He was held in custody overnight and bailed pending further police enquires.
