Harrogate police are appealing for witnesses after a 44-year-old woman was robbed on her way home from work.
The victim was walking along Hampsthwaite Road at around 6.15am on Sunday January 16, when she was approached by a man, who forced her to the ground and stole her handbag.
The man then made off into a wooded area, across the road from where the incident occurred.
He is described as white, between 20 and 30-years old, around 5ft 8in tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark grey hooded top and a grey scarf, which was covering his face.
Police are currently conducting enquiries into the offence and have increased patrols in the area to try and identify the suspect and offer reassurance to the public.
Det Serg Dave Horne, of Harrogate CID, said: “Fortunately the victim only suffered minor injuries in this incident, however she has been left understandably shaken.
“I am appealing for the public to help us identify the man responsible for this offence and urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or knows who the suspect is, to contact the police or Crimestoppers.
“I am also urging anyone who notices any suspicious behaviour, particularly in the early hours of the morning, to contact the police.”
Anyone with any information that could help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact Harrogate CID, on 0845 6060247, quoting reference number 12110008206.
