Police and Crime Commissioner - the results

Conservative candidate Julia Mulligan has become North Yorkshire’s first elected Police and Crime Commissioner.

The results of yesterday’s election were announced the Royal York Hotel at around 2pm today, Friday, November 16.

Ms Mulligan got 47,885 (54.03 percent) votes.

Labour candidate Ruth Potter, the only other candidate in North Yorkshire and York, got 34,328 votes (38.74 percent).

And 7.23 percent of votes cast were spoilt ballots.

In the Harrogate district alone. Ms Mulligan attracted 65 percent of the vote.

Turnout was only 14.32 percent across the area, with the Harrogate district slightly above average at 14.91 percent.
