An elderly woman is in hospital with a fractured hip after an incident involving another pensioner in the Victoria multi-storey car park.

An 88-year-old local woman was reversing out of a parking bay when an 86-year-old woman from Follifoot was walking behind the car, say police.

As a result of the incident the 86-year-old was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with a fractured hip.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the incident at 10.05 today (Friday) on level nine of the Victoria car park.

TC Andy MacLeod, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I ask anyone who was on level 9 of the car park to contact the police as soon as possible so that I can better understand the circumstances around how the woman suffered the injury.”

If you can help with this enquiry please contact Harrogate police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Andy MacLeod.
