Thieves have targeted two homes in Harrogate to steal Yorkshire stone flags.

They struck at an empty house on Kent Road, which is being renovated, after 4pm on October 16.

Thieves stole 12 flags from the garden some time between builders leaving the site at 4pm that evening and returning the following morning.

The suspects then returned to the same house overnight between October 29 and 30, stealing 40 more flags.

In a similar theft on October 16, thieves stole 20 paving slabs from a house on Rutland Close.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or saw vehicles in either of the roads on the nights in question.

The suspects will have needed a vehicle to transport the paving slabs, say police, and would have taken some time to lift each once and carry it away.
