Alchemy Law, which has offices on Princes Square, will specialise in personal injury, industrial disease, will disputes and data protection claims.

The firm’s Head of Claims is Stephen Hattersley, who has worked in several of the large firms in Yorkshire, including Halliwells, Godloves, Ison Harrison and Minster Law.

He said he wanted to provide a law firm with a difference. “The profession and the world have changed unrecognisably during my time as a qualified solicitor but most law firms are still doing things the same way. I think there’s a need to try and do things differently,” he said.

“To us at Alchemy Law, that involves finding out more about what people want, offering the flexibility that people need and providing a quality of service that seems to have got lost along the way.

“There are a lot of firms that don’t do much personal injury work because there’s not as much money in it as there used to be. But we have low overheads and a well-priced case management system, and we’re hoping to pick up a lot of work from the other firms.”

He added that he was hoping to be able to expand the firm early in the new year.
