Mother and son in Harrogate hospital after car overturned in crash

A woman and her seven-year-old son have been taken to hospital in Harrogate after their car ended up on its roof following a collision on the A61 this morning.

The crash at Wormald Green near Ripon on the A61 happened at around 9.20am today (Wednesday December 7) and involved two cars.

A black Renault Modus Maxim ended up on its roof in the middle of the road after the crash with a blue Volvo V70 estate car.

The woman driving the Renault and her seven-year-old son were taken to Harrogate District Hospital by ambulance where their injures are not believed to be serious.

The driver of the Volvo received treatment for minor injuries.

Traffic in the area was disrupted while the emergency services worked at the scene and the Harrogate to Ripon 36 bus reported delays to it's route.

The Renault was recovered at 10.40am and the scene was clear shortly afterwards.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
