The following cases were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on September 22:

Ian Scott Brownlee, 30, of St Wilfrids Place, Ripon, was fined £230 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay a £23 victim surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months, to be reduced by 13 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Richard David Earnshaw, 29, of Leeming Lane, Boroughbridge, was fined £80 for possession of diamorphine. He was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150. The drug must be forfeited and destroyed.

Dominic Sherwood, 41, of no fixed abode, was given a six-month conditional discharge for damaging a pavement on Cheltenham Mount, Harrogate, to the value of £300. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15, £85 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.

Brian Stanley Gregory, 32, of Fairfax Avenue, Harrogate, was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment for assault by beating. He was also sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, to run concurrently, for assault by beating on a separate occasion, and a further four months’ imprisonment, to run concurrently, for a further assault by beating. A restraining order was imposed preventing him from entering Century Walk, Harrogate, or contacting two victims. He was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and a £150 criminal courts charge.

Adam Douglas Scally, 35, of Woodhouse Farm Caravan Park, Winksley, was fined £200 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge. He was also disqualified from driving for 26 months, to be reduced by 26 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Adam James Stephenson, 33, of Camwal Terrace, Harrogate, was given a six-month conditional discharge for being drunk and disorderly on Bower Street, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15, £85 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.

Paul David Stuart, 25, of Ripon Road, Harrogate, was made subject to a community order for assault by beating. No separate penalty was imposed for stealing a mobile phone SIM card. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation, a victim surcharge of £60, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £180. He must also undertake rehabilitation activity.

Graham John McMillan, 31, of Bower Street, Harrogate, was fined £80 for possession of diamorphine. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150. No separate penalty was imposed for possession of cannabis, but magistrates ordered that both drugs should be forfeited and destroyed.
