Harrogate pensioner’s handbag snatched whilst walking to retirement home

An 80-year-old woman’s handbag, containing two cash cards and £50 in cash, was callously snatched today (Thursday) as she walked back to her sheltered housing accommodation in Harrogate.

Hilda Hanson was taken unaware as a man cycling past her quickly snatched her handbag from her arm on as she was walking to Hanover House on Tewit Well Avenue at 12.20 this afternoon.

Police said that Ms Hanson was left ‘very upset’ by the incident and confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.
