Harrogate man pleads not guilty to PCSO assault

A Harrogate man has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer and a community support officer today, February 9.

Daniel Barnett, of Park Close, appeared at Harrogate Magistrate's Court this afternoon charged with three counts of assault.

Mr Barnett was also charged with failing to give his name and address to the police officer and acting in an anti-social manner.

The 32-year-old is accused of street-drinking at Woodbine Terrace on Saturday, January 23 as well as urinating in public.

When he was stopped, Mr Barnett allegedly assaulted community support officer Natalie Bridston as well as John Allen who was assisting her.

Mr Barnett is also accused of assaulting police constable Sharon Rawlings in the same incident. He pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

A trial date has now been set.
