Harrogate Magistrates Court weekly round-up

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 24:

Nichola Buckley, 31, of 34 Walton Park, Pannal, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85 for driving in Harrogate while under the influence of alcohol. She was disqualified from driving for 29 months, to be reduced by 29 weeks on completion of an approved course. There was no further penalty for a separate charge of driving without due care and attention in Beckwithshaw.

Peter Timothy Clarke, 60, of 4 Travers Lodge, Grange Avenue, Preston, was fined £500 for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Blubberhouses. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85, and was disqualified from driving for 32 months, to be reduced by 32 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Michael Allen Cox, 65, of Flat 47, Montpellier Court, Cold Bath Road, Harrogate, was fined £120 for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Boroughbridge. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85, and was disqualified from driving for 36 months.

Alan Ralph Franklin, 54, of Room 3, Royd House 5, North Road, Ripon, was fined £50 for stealing a bottle of wine worth £4.99 from Home Bargains, Ripon. He was ordered to pay compensation of £4.99 and costs of £45.

Angela McDaniel, 49, of 9 River View Road, Ripon, was given a 12 month conditional discharge for stealing various items worth £13.42 from Home Bargains, Ripon. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £45.

Michael Robson, 55, of 30 The Close, Dishforth Airfield, was fined £120 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 40 months, to be reduced by 40 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Alexandra Marie White, 27, of 1 St Patrick’s Way, Harrogate, was given a six month conditional discharge for assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty on the High Street in Knaresborough. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 20.

Harinder Pahwa, 31, of 74 Chatsworth Place, Harrogate, was fined £70 for selling alcohol to a person aged 15 in Harrogate. An order to pay costs of £563.33 was made, as well as a victim surcharge of £20.

William Northcote Gwynn, 24, of Flat 6, 15 South Drive, Harrogate, was fined £100 for entering a train at Harrogate without a valid ticket. He was ordered to pay compensation of £8, a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £50.

Liam Richard Hall, 20, of 7 Eversley Mount, Sherburn in Elmet, was fined £440 for travelling by train between Hull and Sherburn in Elmet without paying the fare and with intent to avoid payment. He was ordered to pay compensation of £20.20, a victim surcharge of £44 and costs of £150.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 19:

Matthew Foster, 28, of 4 Abercorn Street, Barrow-in-Furness, was fined £140 for being drunk and disorderly at The Ginnel, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.

Peter William Lythe, 48, of 291 Woodfield Road, Harrogate, received a 12 month conditional discharge for damaging an internal door at Warren Place, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay compensation of £20, a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Benjamin Alexander Andrews, 20, of no fixed abode, was fined £120 for stealing a bicycle in Harrogate. He was ordered to pay compensation of £15, a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

Anika Isobel Newell, 23, of 24 Scargill Road, Harrogate, received a 12 month conditional discharge for obstructing a policeman in the execution of their duty and for being drunk and disorderly at Oxford Street, Harrogate. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

The following were dealt with at the court on May 17.

Alastair Peck, 37, of 14 Park Parade, Harrogate, was fined £500 for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £50, costs of £200, and disqualified from driving for 16 months, to be reduced by 16 weeks on completion of an approved course.

Harry Cox, 30, of 70 Dene Park, Harrogate, was given a 12-month community order for damaging a police car, and for using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour towards two police officers, with intent to cause fear of violence. He was ordered to carry out 80 hours’ unpaid work and pay compensation of £100.

Bradley Stephen William Dawson, 24, of 6 Springbrook Close, Thurnscoe, Barnsley, was fined £250 for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Bower Street, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30, costs of £85, and disqualified from driving for a year, to be reduced by three months on completion of an approved course.
